Kia has released a short film featuring Peter Schreyer that provides an insight into the world of premium car design in which he explains the importance of proportion. In the presentation, Schreyer sketches the company's new K9 sedan, describing how a rear-wheel drive platform affects the car's design, with its generous wheelbase, short front overhang and the 'prestige distance' between the center of the front wheel and the A-pillar. Mazda CX-5

Mazda will unveil its CX-5 compact crossover SUV at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show in September. The CX-5 is the first production model to showcase the company's new design language, first seen on the Mazda's Shinari and Minagi concepts. Features such as a prominent new frontal treatment with a large Mazda logo and dynamic styling designed to convey a 'strong sense of vitality and agility' are examples of the spirit of Kodo, according to the company.

The Chevrolet Trax – the Chevrolet take on the Vauxhall Mokka – has been revealed ahead of a debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. We reported a few months ago that we could expect the Chevrolet Trax at the Paris Motor Show, but ahead of that reveal Chevrolet has sent us some photos of the Trax and a few details. Effectively the Chevrolet take on the Opel and Vauxhall Mokka (and, for that matter, the Buick Encore), the Trax gets a a Chevy makeover for the front and back and the required rebadging.
