Rhys Millen loses brakes, takes second place at Pikes Peak
Thu, 30 Jun 2011Rhys Millen, nephew of parts guru Steve Millen, didn't break Nobuhiro Tajima's world record at the 89th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb--Tajima did that himself. But Rhys Millen did clock a fast second-place run up the 12.42-mile course with a time of 10 minutes, 9.242 seconds in a prepped Hyundai Genesis PM580. That time was made even more impressive by the fact that Millen lost brake power in the last few miles before reaching the peak.

The automotive equivalent of having your cake and eating it. By April last year our sources were telling us the 918 Spyder would go in to production after Porsche received 900 serious intents of interst on the car, and in June Porsche themselves confirmed the 918 Spyder would be built in limited numbers – just 918 cars for the world.

And even though Vauxhall has taken some off the wraps of the new Monza this morning, we’re still not really any the wiser. Vauxhall/Opel are calling the Monza ‘The Future’ of the brand and say it represents a vision of the company’s future and will have a long term impact on production cars.
