Volkswagen will unveil a one-seat experimental car with an electric powertrain in September as the carmaker works to cut emissions and develop future driving concepts. The concept vehicle will be designed for limited journeys, VW spokeswoman Ruth Holling said Monday, confirming remarks by VW research chief Juergen Leohold to the Financial Times. But having shaken off the self-imposed shackles that made them believe a new Honda supercar in these more austere and ‘Green’ times would be anathema, Honda are finally powering forward with a new NSX. True, they’ve decided their new NSX needs to be’Green’ to be good, but the green-ness Honda are throwing at the new NSX actually gives it more power too, so we’re not complaining.

Another day, another variation on the fabled Toyota FT-86. Following on from the FT-86 II at Geneva and the re-emergence of the original version at the Seoul Auto Show, New York played host to the Scion FR-S concept. Unsurprisingly, the FR-S boasts the same front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car demeanor - hence the name - but differs visually from the other variations from the long awaited Toyota.
