     This auction is for 3 directional signal lenses.  The one in the middle (see photo) is still in the original package.  Made by "Yankee."  It reads "Metal Products, Red #31243.  It si plastic and measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter.  The blue and red lenses are made of glass and are ribbed on the reverse side.  On the back of both on the rim reads "L.L.Co. 2981.  On the front of each is "Sparton P-20."  There are no chips or cracks on any of the three and they are in excellent condition.  Please email any questions.

Sometimes a very ordinary car becomes something special, maybe even loved, but that's not always enough to keep it out of the jaws of the crusher. This is the story of a second-gen Toyota Tercel wagon (known in Japan as the Sprinter Carib) and its journey from auction to lumber-hauler to kid transportation to a Chinese steel factory. Around the turn of the century, while I was working at a doomed dot-com in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, I discovered that the city auctioned off all the unclaimed tow-away cars every week at nearby Pier 70.

2010 Lexus RX 350 gets $37,625 sticker

The redesigned 2010 Lexus RX 350 gets a sticker price of $37,625 for the front-drive model, and $39,025 for the all-wheel-drive model. The new RX goes on sale later this month. Lexus engineers have coaxed an additional 5 hp from the 3.5-liter V6, bringing the output to 275 hp.

Hoping to attract younger buyers, Ford's Lincoln division unveiled the Lincoln C concept at the Detroit Auto Show this week, a car Lincoln calls a big idea for a small luxury car. Ford's vision: a small, more fuel-efficient car for congested urban areas and compact parking spaces that still provides driver and passengers with luxury and comfort of larger sedans. "Modern luxury buyers who live and work in large, urban areas want to play their part in helping the environment by moving to a smaller vehicle, but they still want to enjoy the luxuries of life," said Peter Horbury, executive director of Design, The Americas.
