One Lap of the Web: a lap of the 'Ring, a lap of the YouTubes and a lap of the eBays

-- The Porsche 918 achieved a spectacular and borderline-unbelievable time just a few days ago, but here are some less heroic cars lapping the 'Ring, like Peugeot 205s, modern BMWs and a few bikes mixed in for good measure. Check out the classic Heckflosse (fintail) Mercedes-Benz at 2:05. -- Filmmaker Casey Neistat filmed, umm, a pretty good commercial for the new Mercedes-Benz CLA, but it's the making-of video that's even more fun to watch.

BMW M6 Competition revealed

The Limited Edition BMW M6 Competition will be at Frankfurt (click image for bigger photo) It doesn’t look like the M6 Competition gets much fiddling with the oily bits, although the suspension is being tweaked and lowered – 10mm at the front and 12mm at the back. The M6 Competition sees a new colour option – Frozen Grey Matt – which does look pretty special on the M6.  The interior gets a ‘limited edition’ makeover, with buyers getting the choice between Merino full leather interior with either black or light grey two-tone contrast stitching. BMW are also throwing in a set of mats with ‘M6 Competition’ stitched in them in case you forget what you bought.

Mercedes Biome (2010) first official pictures

Now, what on earth, or for that matter not from earth have we got here? It's the Mercedes Biome concept supercar. It's a product of Merc's Los Angeles design studio, and they prefer to describe it as an 'Ultralight vehicle at one with nature.' The Biome was produced as part of the Los Angeles Design Challenge, taking part alongside the 2010 LA auto show.
