Carfest dates announced for 2014

CHRIS EVANS has announced his popular Carefest shows will take place again in 2014, with dates confirmed as 1-3 August and 22-24 August. Hosted by the car-loving Radio 2 DJ, Carfest North on 1-3 August will be held at Oulton Park racing circuit in Cheshire. Three weeks later, Carfest South will take place at Laverstoke Park in Hampshire, owned by former Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, on 22-24 August.

Consumer Reports gets top vehicle picks mostly right

Despite the publication's uncomfortably broad definition of reliability -- it spans everything from "the engine fell out" to "the touchscreen display shows fingerprints too easily" -- automakers still clamor to get on the Consumer Reports recommended vehicle list. 140mph goalkeeper's sentencing way

THE SENTENCING of a former Premier League goalkeeper caught driving at 140mph has been adjourned after he failed to attend court. Carlo Nash, who has played for clubs including Manchester City, Everton, Wigan Athletic, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Stoke City and Norwich City, was clocked by a traffic officer on the A11 at Wymondham in Norfolk. The 40-year-old from Leftbank, Manchester, was stopped in a 70mph zone by a marked car with a speed detector on February 2 this year.
