BMW X3 gets a turbo four-cylinder

BMW is expanding the use of its N20 turbocharged four-cylinder engine by making it the base powerplant for the 2013 X3 SUV. The X3 xDrive28 will use the twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Twin-scroll turbocharging means that the exhaust stream of cylinders one and four follow a separate path to the turbine wheel from cylinders two and three.

The Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 runs from 17th -27th September to the public Many of the Japanese makers will be conspicuous by their absence, but that should be more than made up for by the launches from the big European makers. And of course the Koreans – in the guise of Hyundai and Kia – will do what they’re starting to do in the market place and fill the gap left by the Japanese. This aggressive slice of supercar is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse – making its debut here at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, it could quite possibly be the last current-shape Gallardo variant we’ll ever see. Named after a famous breed of fighting bull (what else?), the Gallardo has been around for a decade now. Tweaks to the chassis, engine and styling over that time have kept it fresh, but could the Squadra Corse be a last hurrah for this Lamborghini?
