Survey: 1 in 4 drivers break law every day

In a survey of British motorists, 78% of drivers admitted to breaking the law whilst driving – and 27% revealed they do so on a daily basis. The most common offence is speeding, but nearly half of those questioned confessed to using their mobile to phone or text from behind the wheel, and a remarkable 41% said they had driven without wearing a seatbelt. Driving Ban Over Unrestrained Child

A DRIVER has been banned for six months after he was caught on camera speeding at 70mph with a child standing or kneeling on the front passenger seat. John Naisbitt was fined £115 and given three penalty points on top of the ban after he admitted speeding and "carrying a passenger in a manner likely to cause danger". Northallerton Magistrates' Court heard that the 66-year-old from County Durham was caught as he passed a North Yorkshire Police camera on April 27 on the A59 at Menwith Hill.

General Motors is recalling nearly 22,000 units of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups because the seats may move in a rear-end crash. The recall affects 21,721 Silverados and Sierra Series 1500 vehicles; 18,972 in the United States, 2,575 in Canada, 103 in Mexico and 71 exports. These vehicles have manual front reclining seatbacks that may fail to meet a federal safety requirement for performance when struck from behind.
