GM claims 23-mpg average in E-ROD 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air

First introduced in 2009, the GM Performance Parts (GMPP) E-ROD program was born with the mission of creating fuel-efficient, emissions-compliant engine packages for hot-rodders. Now the program is back in the news as GMPP claims that an E-ROD-powered 1955 Bel Air returned 23 mpg on a trip from Michigan to Florida while producing emissions comparable to those of a new Camaro SS. Reaching potential buyers of custom wheels for exotic cars takes more than buying ads in magazines. Miami-based ADV.1 Wheels is building a business fueled by a social-media approach that includes car-forum interaction, photo shoots and short films on the Internet. The company launched a Facebook fan page in late March, has received more than 59,000 “likes” and aims for 100,000--at which point ADV.1 Wheels has promised to give away a set of the company’s Trakfunction wheels.

Ferrari F70 - the new Enzo - 2012 debut Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo has confirmed the arrival of the new hybrid Enzo – the Ferrari F70 – before the end of 2012. Back in February we were able to report on what we can almost certainly expect from the new Ferrari Enzo (which will probably go back to the F40/F50 model designation as the F70), perhaps most importantly that it will have a hybrid powertrain and be revealed this year. That has now been confirmed by Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo as he reported on Ferrari’s sales performance.
