Condition:Used

I have listed a Chevy 283 block with some other parts.  The block has been freshly double boiled, bored, honed to +.080" (3.955"), magnafluxed and sonic tested.  I will supply sonic test sheet with the block.  It is assembly washed and ready for parts.  New cam bearings and freeze plugs have been installed.  The block has never been decked.

The block was machined at my shop- Merkel Racing Engines.  We have been in business for 40+ years.

Piston part number Silvolite 1412 +080 would fit the block.  Ring part number Sealed Power E245x80.  These parts are not included with this sale.

I have included the crank, rods, balancer and breather can that came with it.

The crank is forged.  Already cut .010 on the mains and .020 on the rods.  Needs another grind job.  The thrust surface is in good shape.

Rods are stock out of the engine. I have not checked them out.

Numbers on front pad are T603D

Date code is E2658

The white at the back is not rust.  This is paint that did not come off in the hot tank.

Local pickup is welcome

Karmann-Ghia Coupé redesigned by Brazilian students

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

The winners of the Karmann-Ghia Brazilian student competition to design a modern interpretation of its classic Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Coupé have been revealed. Over almost 60 years the German-Italian company has become an important supplier of car bodies and tooling in Brazil, but the market has lacked a model carrying the Karmann-Ghia badge since the '70s. The original coupé, which inspired the contest, was launched in Brazil in 1962 and remained in the market for 10 years before it was replaced by the Volkswagen SP – considered the first car completely developed in the country.

IAT Crosswind II concept (w/ Gallery)

Wed, 28 Apr 2010

The Crosswind II concept was one of three very competently resolved full-size models displayed on IAT's large stand at the Beijing motor show. A development of the Cross-Coupé model seen two years ago in Beijing. It's a simple concept: the top half is coupé, the lower half has a tough offroader aesthetic,  and it's powered by a 150kW electric motor.
