VERY NICE TIRES. 

Very nice set with about 7/32nds. Never get stranded on the side of the road with these Run flats. Some people have reservations about them, but read this excerpt from a blog I found. 

Now, I've read all the tirades against run-flats. Most of them have struck me as alarmist, since my personal experience has been very good with them.

1) "They wear out too fast." We have 23,000 miles on the car at this point and the tires still have plenty of tread. They look good for 30,000 miles at least before the wear indicators begin to show.

2) "Nobody will repair them/ they can't be patched." I got a nice big nail in the front right tire somewhere in the Phoenix area, which caused a slow leak. The on-board TPMS alerted me before the tire went flat, so I pumped it back up to operating pressure and drove safely to my destination in Tucson, where the tire was quickly fixed by Discount Tire for zero cost. They used the Goodyear-recommended patch-plug.

3) "The ride is awful / noise is awful." I guess this is subjective, because I haven't noticed any issues. I like 'em.

Given all the pros and cons, I'd buy them again, except for one thing: The tires are very expensive. My 2009 GL320 came with Goodyear Eagle LS2 Run-Flats in the size 275/50R20. Tire Rack shows them as $453 each right now. Mounted and with tax I'm looking at close to $2k for a set of tires. So I've got to ask, what are my options?

It doesn't appear anyone else makes an equivalent run-flat tire. This particular tire seems to have been made specifically for Mercedes. I can go to regular (non-runflat) tires for about half the cost, but then I've got to carry a spare around in the back all the time, which is unpalatable. (I did buy a spare rim from a fellow GL320 owner when I had the chance, just in case I changed my mind.)
