McLaren F1 241mph record video

Thu, 27 May 2010

McLaren F1 prototype XP5 hits 240 mph The last few weeks have been a bit of a McLaren F1 festival on Cars UK. But then it is 20 years since the team that created the McLaren F1 was first brought together, as yesterday’s F1 photos and info from McLaren were keen to tell us. All that needs to be written about the McLaren F1 already has been, but one thing we haven’t really covered in any detail before is the F1′s top speed record of 240.1mph, which stood as the world record top speed for a production car until the Bugatti Veyron stole that crown.

Spanish street named after car racing video game creator

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

THE SPANISH town of Ronda has named a street after the creator of car racing phenomenon Gran Turismo. Kazunori Yamauchi, the man behind all six Gran Turismo games and their respective PlayStation spin-offs, was honoured in an on-street ceremony by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Ronda, where the new street sign was unveiled. Paseo de Kazunori Yamauchi runs along the edge of the stunning ravine that makes Ronda a popular tourist destination.

Ford Focus ST & Fiesta ST get official power upgrades

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Ford Focus ST & Fiesta ST (pictured) get Mountune power upgrades There’a a big after-market for tuning cars to deliver more power without wrecking economy or reliability, so it makes sense for car makers to get in on the act if they can. So Ford have teamed up again with Mountune (just as they did a few years ago to offer you 345bhp in your Focus RS) to offer performance upgrades for both the latest Focus ST and the Fiesta ST. The tuning package for the Focus ST boosts power to 271bhp – up from the stock power of 246bhp – and the 0-62mph time drops to under 6 seconds, half a second quicker than the normally tuned car.
