DesignBoom has teamed up with Renault to create a unique design competition. With the Renault 4 entering its 50th year, the aim of the competition is to redesign and recreate the classic R4. The free-to-enter competition is open to anyone, not just design students and professionals.

Auction of Jay Leno tractor to benefit veterans

Bidders at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., this week have a chance to buy a vehicle being retired from entertainer Jay Leno's garage and support a charity that serves military families. The vehicle is a New Holland Boomer tractor. For the past five years, the staff at Leno's garage has used the "Lil Tug" to move the TV host's large collection of classic and unique cars around the facility.

Chrysler's new problem is a shortage of vehicles

A two-month factory shutdown and the cash-for-clunkers government rebates accomplished a feat that had eluded Chrysler Group: It turned several slow-selling vehicles into scarce commodities. At the end of July, Chrysler had only a seven days' supply of Jeep Patriots, or 2,200 units, in dealer stocks. Sixty days is considered normal.
