Original 426 hemi starter has part number and date code clearly shown, had sticker on it from a rebuild but fell off after I took the pictures , worked fine several years ago when I took it off a 1969 hemi motor that I switched to the 10.5 clutch and bellhousing. Overall the starter looks very good and shows no wear on the gear, it came off a 45,000 mile motor with headers so that no doubt was why it was rebuilt. Date code 488 is 48th week of 1968 for a late 68 or early 69 car, will work all the way back to 66 if you just need a four speed starter for less than the n.o.s. One listed on ebay in the past few months.

Classic Camaro, Chevelle and Nova factory documents emerge

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

If you own a classic Camaro, Chevelle, or Nova, getting a missing piece of history on your car is about to get a little easier. The National Corvette Restorers Society has announced that they will begin selling shipping records for these three models made between 1962 and 1972. That might not seem like a huge date range, but it covers a pretty large sweet spot in terms of these nameplates' popularity and collectibility.
