Mon, 05 Mar 20121982 Bentley Mulsanne Turbo (photo courtesy WO Bentley Memorial Foundation) The Bentley Mulsanne Turbo was launched thirty years ago this week at the 1982 Geneva Motor Show, and Bentley was re-born. It’s hard to believe now, but until Rolls Royce launched the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo in 1982 Bentleys were nothing more than re-badged Rolls Royces and accounted for an insignificant 5 per cent of Rolls Royce sales. But the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo changed all that and put Bentley on the road to success with the first ’Blower’ Bentley in half a century.
Webinars: Autodesk Visualization
Wed, 24 Oct 2012Autodesk's last Webinar in the recent four-part series, dubbed 'Visualization', is now available to view online for those who missed the live event. The Webinar's aim was to teach participants how its new visualization technology can enhance the design development process. It also showed how it helps to share designs with peers and looked at the different visualization technologies and where they fit into the process. Robin Oldroyd of Autodesk presented the Webinar and explained which tools are used at different stages of the design process. Oldroyd has strongly focused on Industrial design and visualization during his six-year stint at Autodesk, and has an in-depth of knowledge of solutions for creative design in Automotive, Transportation and consumer products.
The Jaguar F-Type's a closet Star Wars geek
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Our friends over at Jalopnik are currently at Jaguar F-Type media event over in Seattle, where they had a chance to catch up with its design Wayne Burgess (check out our full interview with him here), who revealed some interesting sources of inspiration for some of its detailing. The first is a real easter egg - a detail that once you've discovered it you can't help but see - the front lamp cans are based on Star Wars' TIE Fighter. What has been seen can not be unseen.
