Fiat to build crossover on 500 platform
Fri, 30 Mar 2012Fiat plans to start production of a crossover variant of its 500 minicar next year. The new model will be called the 500X, with the letter X standing for cross, company sources told Automotive News Europe. The car will replace the Sedici in Fiat's Europe lineup.

Volvo tests flywheel technology to cut fuel use
Tue, 31 May 2011Volvo is testing flywheel technology--being used in Formula One racing to give cars an extra boost--as a technology that could help cut fuel use in future cars by as much as 20 percent. Flywheels recapture energy normally lost as heat during braking. That energy can then be used to help propel the car.
