These original equipment exhaust manifolds are in good condition and a matched dated pair .
The right side manifold has never been drilled for a choke tube as a carbureted car would have .
Casting dates are L1 ( December 1st , 1956 ) on the driver side manifold , and L13 ( December 13th , 1956 ) on the passenger side manifold .
The only repairs that have ever been done are two helicoils on the lower flange of the 976 .
THESE ARE FLINT TYPE CASTINGS RATHER THAN TONAWANDA.
All studs have been removed .
These have never been cracked , welded , or modified .
The 975 manifold has no pitting , while the 976 manifold has some pitting . All casting numbers are readable on both manifolds .

Volvo also has a new boss in former VW man Stefan Jacoby, who has made it clear he doesn’t see Volvo as a ‘Premier’ marque. Not that he’s downplaying what Volvo has to offer, he’d just prefer us to think of Volvo as unique and Swedish rather than in competition with the likes of Mercedes and BMW.

When Peter Schreyer left VW in 2006 after a sparkling career that saw him establish the Audi design philosophy – still a hallmark of Audi design – to head up design at stodgy Kia, many in the industry thought it an odd move. But Peter Schreyer seemed keen to prove his worth after VW had passed him over to head up their new design studio, and Kia offered the prospect of turning a budget brand in to a mainstream force with cutting edge designs and, it would seem, a pretty free hand to do what it would take.
