58 59 60 61 62 Corvette Fuel Cap "fe" Fuller Emerson on 2040-parts.com

Condition:Used

This is a used Fuller Emerson vented fuel cap for 1958-1962 Corvettes. I believe that this replacement vented cap can be used in place of the non-vented assembly line cap.  This cap looks exactly like the assembly line 3751027 Fuller Emerson since this cap does have the "F" and "E" stamped on the twister part but it also has the word "VENTED" which would be incorrect for an original assembly line 1958-1962 Corvette cap. This cap measures about 2.33" in diameter while the inner part with the two "ears" measuring about 1.35" in diameter. I have not determined the actual  GM part number for this vented "FE" cap but it might be GM # 3787291 but that is just an educated guess.

According to my Chevrolet Parts History (for service parts, not assembly line parts) GM # 3751027 (the "FE" cap, non-vented) was replaced with GM # 3772749 (Stant cap, embossed "VENTED") in Aug. 1960 which was replaced with GM # 3787291 (manufacturer unknown) in Aug. 1961 which was then replaced with GM # 3814436 (Stant cap, embossed "ANTI SURGE" & "VENTED) in June 1962.  My 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1962) lists GM # 3814436 in Gr. 3.028 as a replacement fuel cap for 53-62 Corvettes and 58-63 Chevrolet Passenger cars with a description of "vented".

This used fuel cap is in good condition. It is suggested that the potential buyers do some research on the NCRS Forum about the 58-62 Corvette fuel caps before bidding.

Shipping will be via the USPS Priority Mail or USPS 1st Class Mail, fully insured.  At the end of the auction I will get the actual shipping cost from the USPS website based on the zip code of the winning bid.

Fri, 14 Oct 2011

Editor's note: When you can't fit your newly acquired basket-case Jeep FC150 in the garage because you have an Autocar Sussita and a 1928 Studebaker President chassis buried beneath crates of Subaru 360 parts, you're in Project Car Hell. Our friend Murilee Martin is here to oil up the gates to Automotive Hades, bringing the series back with a couple of you'd-hafta-be-outta-your-mind hypothetical engine-swap projects. And be sure to check back for fresh installments of Project Car Hell every week.

Brighton Speed Trials under threat

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Nearly 8,000 people have signed a petition to see the Brighton Speed Trials return in 2014. The event, which dates back to 1905, was cancelled last year while an inquest determined the cause of a fatal motorbike crash that occurred in 2012. Now organisers are urging the local council to give them permission to return to the Speed Trials to Brighton’s Madeira Drive this summer.
