604 crate carb. I have worked with a 604 racer 4 years so I know what works and doesn't on the car. I can also correct your carb for a reasonable fee. Carbs that are set up for a dyno number and fuel curve on a dyno don't seem to work well on the car. The engine is loaded different in the car than it is on a dyno. On a dyno , the carb is already wide open pulling fuel from the main circuit when its loaded and then the data is gathered. In the car, it loads the engine with the throttle plates closed , and on the track maybe not full throttle suddenly. This is NOT a generic carb like most other crate carbs that will also run on an open motor. Do not put this on anything but a 604 and they seem fine on a 602. On a 602 they can pull a 604 with other carbs out of a corner with an agressive driver. I do not powdercoat my carbs. If you want polished fuel bowls that's not a problem. I correct carbs that are every color in the rainbow. If coloring them made them faster I would do it. I do apply a clear coat that is solvent resistant. |
