Will the 2012 M5 get four wheel drive? Now there’s something to cogitate on for BMW M5 fruitcakes. Autocar are reading a comment by BMW’s head of R&D, Albert Biermann, that “…there will be some all-wheel-drive surprises on M cars in the future.” as evidence that BMW are going to do the almost unthinkable and offer 4WD as an option on the 2012 BMW M5.

It follows the fashion for swoopy estates and does a convincing job of turning the Megane in to a load carrier without making it look as of Renault have just bolted a pile of sheet metal at the back. Audi R8

Audi has unveiled the new R8 supercar, closely based on the Le Mans concept that was shown three years ago in Frankfurt. The two-seat car uses a shortened version of the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, and is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 using FSI technology first introduced by the A2. Like the now-obsolete small car the R8 is also constructed of an aluminum space-frame, keeping weight down to 1360kg.
