61 62 63 Pontiac 389 421 Thermostat Housing - # 538440 on 2040-parts.com
Bend, Oregon, US
61 62 63 Pontiac 2 or 4 barrel carb (NOT TRIPOWER) Aluminum Thermostat Housing - #538440. Clean and in decent condition. Pictures show etching on snout, but that is convered by hose and not seen. Etching is not deep enough to cause any strength or leaking problems. Most are this way if they have not been replaced with aftermarket. Part number embossed on top. I have repaired mine on my 63 to new condition by filling the etching with a liquid Aluminum type compound, smoothing off, and hand filing or machine wire brushing smooth. Works great. These old units with correct part number embossed on them are getting very hard to find as most have disintegrated with time and use.
