2015 Volvo XC90 First Edition price & spec – costs £68,000

Sun, 31 Aug 2014

The new XC90 First Edition – a range-topping, £88k XC90 The more we’ve looked this week at the new Volvo XC90, the more we’re beginning to see it as a seminal model for Volvo in the same way the original XC90 was in 2002. And, if all it promises comes close to reality when the first new XC90 s start to arrive in 2015, the new XC90 really could make serious inroads in to the market for premium SUVs currently dominated by Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Land Rover. The new XC90 ‘s clever packaging, good looks, technology and toys certainly seem to offer a beguiling package for a premium family SUV, although the price is likely to be a touch stronger than the current model.

Insurance group lists its Top Safety Picks

Wed, 22 Dec 2010

After increasing its standards for 2011 models, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says that 66 vehicles--more than double the 2010 total--rate as best in the industry at protecting passengers from front, side, rollover and rear crashes. Only 27 vehicles qualified last year after the group, funded by the insurance industry, required that vehicles pass a roof-strength test to earn a good rating, claiming that stronger roofs would reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury by 50 percent in a rollover accident. The most mentioned carmakers on the 2011 list are Hyundai/Kia and Volkswagen/Audi, both with nine vehicles to get the Top Safety Pick designation.

Ford up their Facebook spend as GM depart paid for Facebook After GM said it was pulling its adverts from Facebook this week, Ford has stepped in to say it will spend more. Who’s right? The timing of the announcement by GM this week that it was pulling advertising from Facebook was doubtless designed to inflict as much damage as possible on the Facebook IPO.
