Camaro/Nova heavy duty 8.5 10 bolt, 3.73 posi rear end, Rebuilt, Excellent Condition.  Low Reserve!

You are looking at a very nice Chevy Nova 8.5 10 bolt rear end with 3.73 gears, rebuilt, ready to go. This rear is an exact fit for '67-'69 Camaros/Firebirds and '68-'79 Novas, Olds Omegas, Buick Apollos, and Pontiac Venturas. It has the multi leaf spring perches, but can be used with spacers for mono leaf springs.  The rear measures 54 1/4" from brake backing plate to brake backing plate and 60" overall. NOTE: You may have to shorten your driveshaft between 1 to 1 1/2 inches depending upon the current set up in your car.

These 8.5" rears are much stronger than the 8.2" 10 bolt rears that came in first generation Camaros and early Novas.  They are strong enough to be NHRA legal.  This rear has been professionally rebuilt using quality parts.  The housing was power washed, and painted black.  The brake backing plates were powdered coated as is the rear end yoke. The housing is an unmolested housing. It has not been cut, bent, or welded on and is very nice.  The pictures do not do justice to this housing.  The tubes are very smooth and virtually pit free. I would not consider it concourse show quality, but it is very nice. 

The factory posi unit was disassembled, inspected, thoroughly cleaned and then reassembled with not new but an excellent set of low mileage clutches and limited slip lubricant.  All internal parts to include side gears, pinion gears and preload spring pack are in excellent condition.  The rear has new Koyo USA carrier bearings/races, pinion bearings/races, new Koyo USA axle bearings and new National axle seals/pinion seal. Gears are nice used original GM 3.73s that have been set up with .008 backlash and have a textbook pattern. This is an extremely tight rear and will function quite well. This rear has no brake hardware but is the same as all your other 10 and 12 bolt rear ends.

Why pay top dollar (double or more) for a 12 bolt when this will more than do the job and you can put your money into other parts you need?  This rear will be an excellent addition for that '67-'69 Camaro or Firebird, as well as the other cars listed.  Don't miss one of the nicest rears available for your Camaro, Nova, or other X-Body.  This is a bolt in rear and will spice that vehicle of yours right up.  The parts and labor alone that have gone into this rear make it a super bargain, even at the buy it now price. Nothing has been spared to make this an excellent rear end assembly.

This rear weighs about 200 pounds and will need to be shipped by truck freight.  It will be shipped without lubricant, so the buyer must add lubricant prior to use.  I will palletize and deliver this rear to the freight company at NO additional cost to the buyer. Brandon, FL and save on freight charges.  I have no problem with the rear sitting here for a bit if a buyer chooses to come pick it up.  I will also deliver this rear within 120 miles of Brandon, Florida.

McLaren Automotive launches bespoke operations division

McLaren Automotive has today announced the launch of the McLaren Special Operations division, which will be responsible for the delivery of bespoke projects for McLaren sports cars. The division celebrated its launch with an example of the new MP4-12C, finished in Volcano Orange with a number of bespoke carbon upgrades, at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Bespoke designs featuring on the vehicle are diamond cut finish wheels with gloss black inners, MP4-12C branded carbon sill panels, a carbon steering wheel, front wheelarch louvres and carbon fiber engine cover vents, rear deck vent and wiper system cover.

College Exhibition: Coventry University students prepare for the MA Design Degree Show

MA students from the Coventry University Automotive Design course are preparing for their annual degree exhibition. This year's show, entitled 'Move' will present the work of 21 students in the new Coventry Transport Museum, Hales St, in the centre of the city. The projects on show cover the full spectrum of vehicle concepts, with the show zoned into four themes: 'Move-Art', 'Move-Identity', 'Move-Current' and 'Move-Extreme'.

Buick LaCrosse with eAssist priced at $30,820

The freshly stickered 2012 Buick LaCrosse with eAssist will start at $30,820, including destination costs, the brand said on Wednesday. Buick says the 2012 LaCrosse with eAssist is rated at 37 mpg in highway driving, a 25 percent improvement over the 2011 LaCrosse. The improvement comes from eAssist, a mild hybrid system that uses a belt-driven electric motor-generator and a lithium-ion battery pack.
