67 Shelby Gt Mustang Cougar Tilt Away Steering Column on 2040-parts.com
Jacksonville, Florida, US
Here we have a Tilt Kick Away Steering assembly for a 67 Shelby Mustang , Elanor or Cougar XR7. Ford engineers offered this rare kick away column which moved to the right when the door was opened for driver ease and comfort. Primarily offer in the T-bird this assembly was redesigned to work in cars such as the Shelby GT Mustang Bulit and the Cougar XR7. This kit is complete with the rag joint, vacuum tank, dash bracket and wiring this set up is even offered with a Mustang Kick Away Column wiring manual. This factory upgrade offered a safety option of a rag joint to separate during an accident needed to install these into a 67 Model. This is a nicely restored kit that has been disassembled, cleaned, serviced and detailed for your enjoyment. A complete functioning unit the kick away and the wiring are intact although the senders could need attention or servicing to function as designed. In addition you must have a short shaft steering box able to accept the rag joint, ( reconditioned steering boxes are available from 195.00) unlike solid shaft boxes which was a production change for this year. A really nice addition for owners that have highly-optioned cars, these were low in production as this was the first year for the Tilt being offered in these fun mid sized cars. This is an original piece, is in good condition and offers the kick away function. This unit, in good used condition, will function as designed, not skipping or jumping positions. The kick away feature also pulls to the side, as was Fords intention. Whether adding this as a convenience or a handling option, we are sure that you will enjoy the design and function of this as you are cruising the highways with your classic car. Fri, 09 Nov 2012The 2013 Porsche Cayman has been confirmed by Porsche to debut at the 2012 Los Angels Auto Show later this month. The new Porsche Cayman has been on the way for quite a while. As long ago as October 2011 we ran a video of Porsche’s new 911, new Bosxter and new Cayman out on the sleepy streets of San Francisco but now it appears the last of the three to be revealed - the new Cayman – is heading for this month’s L.A.
Maybach Zeppelin comes over the horizon
Thu, 12 Feb 2009The Maybach Zeppelin - an even bigger waste of money than the standard Maybach Maybach has not exactly been an unmitigated success for Mercedes. Conceived as a competitor for Rolls Royce, it does seem to have carved itself a niche, but probably not the one that Mercedes wanted. Perceived by most as a tarted-up S Class, and bought by the wealthy of the Playstation generation, rather than the Captains of Industry that Mercedes envisioned, the Maybach must be a loss-maker for Mercedes.
