1969-70 Mopar 440 Super Commando / 440 Magnum four barrel Air Grabber Air Cleaner assembly. The original base has been media blasted and refinished in the correct semi-gloss black finish to present a period correct image. The base is in nice condition with a very clean carburetor flange featuring both factory alignment tangs. The original lid retaining bar and studs are excellent as well. The exterior seal flange features typical factory stamping waves and the correct oil filter breather inlet tube on the driver's rear side. A "Made in Canada" stamp has been added as a further measure of authenticity.

The original lid is nice as well and is garnished with a Mopar Licensed air cleaner service decal. The inside has a  "Made in Canada" stamp to further the level of authenticity. The top is installed with the included pair of period correct wing nuts. The "Coyote Duster" decal adds a very nice touch and enhances the overal image.  Note that there are minor paint anomalies on the inside of the base lid near the filter rim - nearly imperceptible, but mentioned for clarity. To complete the assembly, a new K&N high performance pre-oiled filter is included with the assembly.

This assembly is in very good condition and will enhance your restoration. Best of all, it is a very rare (difficult to find) and genuine original Mopar part!

Note that reproduction units are available as a cost-effective alternative:  $400+ for unit; add $125+ for reproduction filter; $30 for decals; plus shipping costs. Net investment around $555+. Compare that to an original 440 base advertised at $549, $300 or more for an original Fram CA332V (not vintage series or reproduction), original lid ($) and decals - along with time to restore, and the costs are much more.

For further information on the restoration process, please contact us directly.

APPLICATIONS

This assembly is correct for the following 1969-70 high performance models featuring the 440 (RB deck) 4 barrel engines:

Dodge

Coronet R/T (69-70)

Plymouth

GTX (69)

This assembly will fit a myriad of A/B/C bodies without the Air Grabber/Ram Charger fresh air systems. Please inquire if you are unsure of fitment options. Please note that this is specific to the 440 models - the center lid bar measures under 2 7/8" from the base to the top of the bar - 383 base plates measured 3 3/8" due to the lower deck height of the B engines.

Note: the base is specific to the RB deck engines (413/426/440) due to the height of the carburetor flange. It will fit 340 LA & 383/400 B deck engines, but due to the difference in height at the flange (sits too low), will not correctly seal to the Air Grabber fresh air box.

FITMENT

The assembly will fit factory Carter AVS 4 barrel carburetors with a 5 1/8" diameter flange and others to include Holley, Carter, and Edelbrock variations without electric choke (some adjustment to the tangs may be necessary). If you have modified your carburetor or intake manifold, please inquire first prior to bidding to ensure fitment is correct. Return requests for non-fitment will not be honored.

ABOUT MUSCLECAR AIR CLEANERS

Established in 2003, Musclecar Air Cleaners has focused on the restoration of original air cleaner assemblies for GM & Mopar classic and musclecar air cleaner assemblies. It is our primary function and one that takes time and dedication. Since starting the business, we have completed over 1,100 air cleaners with the same mantra – finished “one at a time.” We do not restore customer air cleaners – we maintain a large inventory of many popular and some obscure air cleaner assemblies. Inventory changes constantly, as our global customer base continues their fascination with the American car.

At Musclecar Air Cleaners, customer service is the top priority. From questions about items, to orders, shipping, and receipt, your satisfaction is very important.

We appreciate your visit and thank you for the opportunity to earn your business!

F1 drivers supporting Schumacher

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

F1 DRIVERS from around the world have wished Michael Schumacher a full recovery as he lies in a coma after a skiing accident in France. Martin Brundle, who was Schumacher's team-mate at Benetton in 1992 and 1993, tweeted: "Let's hope Michael Schumacher's ski shunt is not too bad and that he's totally fixable. He's a crazy brave skydiving/bike racing daredevil." Hours later, when the full extent of Schumacher's injuries had become clear, he urged: "Come on Michael, give us one of those race stints at pure qualifying pace to win through, like you used to.

Rolls Royce EX200 (RR4 / Ghost) breaks cover early

Thu, 19 Feb 2009

The Rolls Royce EX200 Concept unveiled ahead of its Geneva debut [ad#ad-1] Well, this was supposed to be embargoed until tomorrow, but if the Daily Telegraph are prepared to jump the gun, I suppose we may as well jump on their coach and run it as well! After more spy shots of the Rolls Royce RR4 than I care to remember, and teaser images and trickles of details, we finally have some concrete information, and some images, to put meat on the bones of the new Baby Rolls Royce. But apparently we shouldn’t call it the ‘Baby’ RR, as Rolls Royce insists that the new car, which will be almost exactly the same as this concept, will be built to the same exacting standards as the flagship Phantom.

One Lap of the Web: Relentless auction consumerism and a chat with Pete Brock

-- Bonham's is hosting "Les Grandes Marques du Monde au Grand Palais," happening right now in Paris. Sounds fancy. And as with almost every Bonham's auction, there is some fancy machinery: our friends at Bring a Trailer point out an almost surreal variety of cars, from a Mazda 323 GTX Group N rally car to a cute lil' Saab 92B De Luxe.
