More Saab products coming, Muller says
Thu, 05 Aug 2010Saab's new Dutch owner, Spyker Cars NV, intends to spin additional models off its new Phoenix platform after it yields a redesigned Saab 9-3. Saab dealers will receive the latest 9-3 in 2012, Spyker founder and Saab Automobile AB Chairman Victor Muller said Thursday at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich. The dealers, who have been starved for product as former owner General Motors attempted to sell or liquidate the brand, also will obtain a Cadillac-based 9-4X crossover when it goes into production in April 2011 in Mexico.
Kia scoops three design awards
Fri, 03 Aug 2012Kia has won three design awards in this year's Automotive Brand Contest, continuing its strong showing in last year's competition. The second-generation cee'd, launched in June, topped the exterior category table as well as receiving an honorary special mention for exceptional innovation in the interior category. The car's exterior features a chrome-framed glasshouse and muscular lines on the bonnet, while inside an ergonomic, driver-oriented control panel impressed the judges enough to receive the special mention.

Supported by Adolf Hitler's Nazi government, the two brands had grander plans to demonstrate Germany's technological supremacy. In August 1936, Auto Union engineer Ferdinand Porsche and race car driver Hans Stuck approached Wilhelm Kissel, chairman of Daimler-Benz, and presented a plan to build a car that would set a new land speed world record.
