Up for bid is a nice timing chain cover removed from a 1979 Trans Am with a 1975 400 motor. This part will fit the 69-79 year 350 400 and 455 blocks. This one has the removable timing pointer (Another auction). The one is nice and not all corroded as the car had low miles. It will need to be cleaned and painted prior to installation. There are no broken water pump bolts and it comes with the correct inner steel divider, also in good condition. A great auction if yours is corroded or your project car didn’t come with one. Winner to add $13.00 for flat rate shipping, and payment is due via paypal as per Ebay listing rules. Currently parting out a 1977 Trans Am 4 speed car, and a 1979 Trans Am WS6, so e-mail with your needs and I’ll list the parts on ebay. Check my other auctions as I am cleaning out the garage and need to make some room. Good luck to all!!

Record expected for Auto Union sale

Wed, 07 Feb 2007

By James Mullan Motor Industry 07 February 2007 09:21 A rare 1939 Auto Union Type D grand prix car is tipped to tear up the record books this month when it goes under the hammer – for an estimated price of up to £7.8 million. Auto Union developed the Type D racing car with a mid-mounted 3.0-litre 12-cylinder engine; in 1939, it was modified with the addition of a twin supercharger, increasing power 420bhp to 460bhp – enough for a top speed of 205mph. This particular car won the French and Yugoslavian Grand Prix in 1939, but at the end of the Second World War it was transported from East Germany to the former Soviet Union by Russian occupation forces as spoils of war.

The original 1950s Saab 92 Victor Muller – the man who saved Saab from GM’s closure plans – wants the company to build a compact premium car, something we’ve know since before he managed to close the deal to take on the troubled Swede. And it looks like that’s close to being confirmed as Victor declares that the decision will be made in the next 100 days. Which sounds to us as if there is a deal in progress with another manufacturer to supply a platform.
