Before the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas became the capital of obnoxious extravagance, car manufacturers and suppliers saw it as an opportunity to exhibit their latest innovations, giving the public an exciting insight into the future of automobiles. This is when, in 1985, Buick unveiled the totally unexpected Wildcat concept, which broke radically with the brand's stodgy image. THE CROSSOVER bubble seems to be far from bursting, with Toyota revealing a sneak preview of the car it hopes can challenge the Nissan Qashqai. The C-HR concept will be revealed fully for the first time at the Paris Motor Show at the beginning of October. It is said to be fitted with a hybrid drivetrain and is likely to be based on the same chassis that underpins the Lexus NX compact SUV that has recently been launched to global media.

Toyota GT86 TRD (2013) first pictures and details

Toyota's performance arm TRD (stop sniggering, it stands for Toyota Racing Development) has breathed on the GT86 coupe. The GT86 TRD, of which just 250 examples are UK-bound, gets a subtle bodykit, bigger wheels, a tuned exhaust and a couple of badging trinkets, but crucially, no extra power from the 2.0-litre boxer engine. A mistake, given that the price is up by £6500?
