for auction gm 8.5 ten bolt posi. this posi is in good condition. it is a oem limited slip unit made by auburn gear for gm. it came out of a 1994 Caprice. it is 30 spline.this unit has likely seen little use. it will work in full size trucks and 1988 and up. if you truck has the small square tail lights this unit will not work it those vehicles(28 spline axles). the full size trucks with the long thin tail lights have 30 splines it will fit these vehicles. the unit will fit into the early 8.5 10 bolt housing. the difference is the axle splines. 1987 and older vehicles were 28 spline axles. see the list below from auburn gear for the vehicles it will fit. auburn shows the trucks at 1989. i have installed one of these in a 1988 it did have the 30 spline axles. if in doubt check your axle splines to be sure yours are 30. if they are 30 it will fit.
the ring gear is a 3.73 (11;41). it is not the gear that was in the caprice. when i pulled this unit from the caprice i found the gear to be a 3.08. this gear is not common and i decided to pull the gears out of a 1996 Suburban and put that gear on this posi. the 3.73 is very common in trucks and a great gear for a performance truck. this gear is in good condition. the bearings on the carrier look good the pinion bearing is worn and starting to pit. it will need to be replaced while it is out. the fluid was a little dark when i pulled it from the caprice, the fluid in the suburban was dark also but looked ok. i have also included the shims from the caprice and the suburban.
it will work with 2.73 and higher number gears 2.93,3.08, 3.23, 3.42, 3.73,4.10. it will not work with a 2.47or 2.56
the 7.5 ten bolt has two points in the bottom of the housing below the inspection cover one on each side. it will not work in this housing
the larger 8.5 ten bolt has two squares in the bottom of the housing below the inspection cover one on each side.

The Corolla will stick with a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, but will add Toyota's Valvematic variable valve timing, which may add a few ponies. A four-speed automatic will be standard on base models, while a six-speed manual will also be offered, replacing the old five-speed .
