No, the Mercedes Benz SLS Gullwing (which we all thought was going to be called the Mercedes SLC – but we were wrong!) is not showing at Geneva 2009. But that hasn’t stopped Mercedes from doing a bit of a spoiler for the show on the day before press day by releasing testing images of a disguised car, together with some solid information, instead of all the speculation we’ve been indulging in. Major restrictions suggested for learner drivers

A NEW report on potential changes to young driver training could cut accident casualties by more than 4,000 a year. The report, from transport research group TRL, recommends teenagers should not be allowed to take their driving test until they are 18, rather than the current threshold of 17. They would have to have a 12-month "learner stage" beginning at 17 with a requirement for at least 100 hours of day-time and 20 hours of night-time supervised practice.

Citroën to unveil flagship model in Beijing

Citroën has released two teaser images for a new luxury flagship model to be unveiled at the Beijing motor show next month, as part of its efforts to reposition the brand further upmarket with its DS model range. The car, which is to be the automaker's fourth and largest model in its DS range, appears to be a direct descendent of the Citroën Metropolis Concept, first seen at the Shanghai World Fair in 2010. Although it is unclear whether or not the model seen in the pictures will be the production version of the Metropolis, the two clearly share many design features.
