ZAP electric car
Tue, 26 Jun 2007California-based ZAP has completed the initial concept phase for a new electric vehicle claimed to hit a top speed in excess of 100 mph with a range of 100 miles per charge. "With ZAP's experience over the past 12 years and the groundwork we have already laid, we know that electricity is the future of the auto industry," said ZAP CEO Steve Schneider. "At the same time, we believe we have a design that will serve a niche no other manufacturer in the auto industry is seeking to fill." Fri, 14 Aug 2009The Infiniti Essence Concept kicked off this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance This year’s event at Pebble Beach has kicked off with a gala dinner and the US debut of the Infiniti Essence Concept that we saw recently at the Geneva Motor Show. Much bigger than you would expect from a Japanese Coupe, the Infiniti Essence is over 15 feet long and features a 3.7 litre V6 turbo coupled with am electric motor, designed to give a whopping 590bhp. The interior of the Essence is much more Japanese than the outside.
Toyota proposing $1.1 billion unintended acceleration settlement in US
Thu, 27 Dec 2012Toyota are setting aside an additional $1.1 billion to settle claims in the US of unintended acceleration in their cars. In the ongoing saga of unintended acceleration in the US caused by floor mats, Toyota has revealed it is to set aside an additional $1.1 billion to settle claims and fit new equipment to cars affected by the floor mat problem. Toyota are going to install a brake override system in 3.25 million vehicles, set aside $250 million to compensate owners who have already sold their cars, another $250 million for affected owners whose cars can’t get the brake override system, throw in a care plan for parts related to unintended acceleration and throw $30 million at research in to car safety.
