Blink and you'll miss Ken Block in new Gymkhana video
Tue, 02 Jun 2009Explosions, hooks and slides and the destruction of fluorescent light bulbs--all in the name of gaining attention for DC Shoes? Noted rally driver and DC co-founder Ken Block slides his way through Gymkhana Two, a high-performance sequel to his popular Gymkhana Practice video. Block maneuvers a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, custom-built by Crawford Performance, around the Port of Los Angeles.
Car production increases again
Thu, 19 Sep 2013THE SOCIETY of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said UK manufacturers built 91,282 cars in August, up 16.2%, or 12,705, on the same period in 2012, leaving year-to-date volumes 3.1% ahead of 2012, at 984,545. The figures showed 20,298 cars were made for the home market this year, up 21.1%, while 70,984 were for export, up 14.8%. SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said: "The past 12-months has been one of the most productive since late 2008." Samuel Tombs, of consultancy Capital Economics, said the CBI figures showed the manufacturing sector "continuing to go from strength to strength".
1961 Jaguar E-Type ‘Barn Find’ sells for £110k
Fri, 03 May 2013Rarity is all in the classic car world, which is one of the reasons why the early, pre-Fiat Ferraris command huge prices (there were only 33 Series 1 Ferrari 250 GTOs built and you would now have to pay north of $40 million for one) and why the E-Type – glorious and desirable though it is – commands a fraction of that. In fact, you can pick up a very decent E-Type in good condition for as little as £50k, and even E-Types that have been fully restored and with low mileage don’t often break the £100k barrier. So why has this tatty 1961 flat-floor E-Type sold for £119,020 at Bonhams auction at the RAF Museum in Hendon?
