Hello folks, up for sale today is a super mint factory original digital ETR AM/FM stereo radio with auto-reverse cassette tape player and clock that was taken out of a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am. If you are restoring your classic 1980's Pontiac muscle car to a 100 point show car with exceptional details, exact originality, and show quality, then this radio is just what you are looking for. This radio was GM RPO option code UM6 and was a $339.00 upgrade stereo system option for the 1984-1988 Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am, Formula, GTA, & Fiero. This radio will also fit and work perfectly into many other GM cars and trucks from throughout the 1980's as well.

This radio is in super mint, 100% working condition. The radio was cleaned inside and out, adjusted and lubed. I have tested the radio and it works very well by picking up many stations on both the FM & AM frequencies. When the stereo receives a FM stereo broadcast, the "Stereo" LED lights up brightly in a light green color. The pushbuttons also work very well and push in very easily, and for storing and recalling the set stations. The stereo also has the SEEK/SCAN features built in. The SEEK feature allows the radio to pick the next best received station without turning the knob. The SCAN feature will do it automatically, staying on each station for five seconds before moving to the next. The "SCAN" LED will light up for whenever the stereo is in SCAN mode. The vacuum digital fluorescent readout is in excellent working condition, with no parts of the characters of the numerals are burned out or dull, and have a very nice light green color to them. The stereo is also equipped with a digital clock that displays when the key is turned on and when the radio is off, or after five seconds after tuning in a station. I had the clock hooked up for a couple of hours, and it kept perfect time.

The cassette tape player also works perfectly. I tested three cassette tapes and they all played extremely well. The tapes play very clear with no sound distortions or garble. The capstans and head were cleaned, and the speed of the tape was correctly adjusted. The fast forward and reverse switches also works very well, with a quick and quiet motion. The original rubber belt is still very tight and pliable to give you years of future usage. The tape inserts and ejects nicely. The auto reverse feature also works correctly, with pushing in the top knob automatically plays the other side of the tape; the tape will also switch sides automatically when it is finished playing on one side. The correct tape LED light comes on for whichever direction the cassette tape is playing.

There are three brand new light bulbs that were just installed; simply click the picture of the radio being illuminated in the dark to view for yourself.
T
he face lights up in the correct Pontiac only red color and looks great. This stereo will work with any two, three, or four speaker system, and will also work with a power antenna if so equipped.

Cosmetically the stereo is in super mint condition, as it looks close to new and
can be easily installed into a show or museum car. All of the gray buttons have excellent color to them and are not cracked or worn, although they are very lightly sun faded. The gray face is also in super mint condition as it has a very nice matte with no heavy scratches, or fading; there is some light wear on a couple of areas of the faceplate, but still displays very well. The digital display lens cover is clear with no heavy marks or wear and has a great shine. All of the font is crisp and clear and looks great. The tape door is also in super mint condition with no scratches or wear. The original decal tags are still attached to the top of the radio chassis and look great. The factory GM part # for this radio is 16040862, which was later superseded by GM part # 16066982. The factory original grease pen marking are also clearly visible on the top of the chassis. The correct original gray inner and outer knobs are included and are also all in super mint condition. Also for an additional $15, I will include the factory original pigtail plug connectors that could be spliced into a car's wiring in case the factory connectors are missing. However the winning bidder must contact me when the listing ends as the adapters and/or harness plugs are available at your request.

This original Delco GM radio is 100% factory correct for the
1984-1988 Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am, Formula, GTA, & Fiero. This radio will also bolt in and work perfectly into the 1982-1988 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, LT, Sport Coupe, IROC-Z and Berlinetta, 1984-1987 Buick Regal, Limited, T-Type, & Grand National, 1987 Buick GNX, 1986-1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, LS, SS & El Camino, 1984-1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass, Brougham, 442, & Hurst Olds, 1985-1987 Pontiac Grand Prix & 1986 Pontiac 2+2, 1984-1988 Chevrolet Corvette, and the 1988-1992 Chevrolet and GMC pickup, K5 Blazer and Suburban as well. This radio will also fit and work perfectly into many other GM cars and trucks from throughout the 1980's as well that use the older large harness plug connectors in the back of the radio.

**** Also for a similar fee, I can completely restore your factory original Delco GM radio back to 100% working condition as well. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to have this work done as well. ****

Having an original factory radio installed will not only rise the value of the car, but it will also score extra points when being judged at a show. These older Delco GM radios are becoming very hard to find, so if you are looking to upgrade to this very rare and desirable digital ETR AM/FM cassette stereo radio, wishing to convert back to a factory Delco GM setup, or looking for a radio for an older hot rod, rat rod, or custom, here's your chance to grab a real show quality radio. This stereo will be shipped with USPS 2-3 Day Priority Mail, so if you have any questions about the stereo or would like a shipping quote please ask. Thank you and good luck.

SSC Tuatara: The new supercar from Shelby SuperCars

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

SSC Tuatara - the peaked backed lizard with super speedy DNA Shelby SuperCars has been the bane of the Bugatti Veyron’s existence almost since its inception, because it’s the American Muscle response to the Bugatti technological tour de force. And it keeps on coming, this time with the SSC Tuatara. Currently the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport holds the world speed record for a production car, having wrested that from the SSC Ultimate Aero.
