86 - 90 Yamaha Radian Rear rear hub dampers / rubbers 1986 YX600 #B
This 1986 Yamaha Radian was a "barn find". It was ridden only 13K miles, then put into dry inside storage. The engine turned over fine, but given its age (and dry rotted tires) we did not attempt to ride it. The YX600 Radian is a sport/standard motorcycle manufactured by the Yamaha Motor Company between the years of 1986-1990. The Radian came equipped with a slightly detuned version of Yamaha's 598cc, air-cooled, inline-4 which was used in the Yamaha FZ-600 Sport Motorcycle (grandfather of Yamaha's FZR series of performance bikes), and initially designed with 528cc for the 1981 XJ550 Seca and Maxim then in 1984 the bore, stroke and carburetor size were increased for the Yamaha XJ600/FJ600 sport bike. In 1986 the engine was fitted with smaller 550 style carburetors to fit between the frame rails in the Japanese FZ400 chassis and introduced as the FZ600 which was produced until 1988. The YX600 Radian chassis received less high performance components than its race-bred relatives in order to make the machine more affordable for the general riding community. Some of these features included twin rear shock absorbers, rear drum brakes, and the lack of performance fairings, lending the motorcycle's appearance to the increasingly popular "Naked bike" styling at the time. Although the Radian's powerplant had slightly less top-end performance than its racing counterpart, the Yamaha FZ-600, it was noted that the machine's mild detuning actually contributed to a stronger mid-range powerband, and that the bike could actually pull away from an FZ model during short distance testing. Zero to 60mph acceleration tests of under four seconds are not uncommon with the YX600 Radian. |

New De Tomaso Pantera at Frankfurt
Tue, 12 Jul 2011What is thought to be the new Pantera leaving the De Tomaso facility So far all we’ve officially had from the new De Tomaso, now run by ex Fiat man Gian Mario Rossignolo, is the not particularly well-received De Tomaso Deauville at Geneva in the Spring. It seemed an odd route for the revived De Tomaso to go, and an odd choice of name. The Deauville seems to be halfway between the (poor-selling) BMW 5-Series GT and a Porsche Cayenne.
Volvo XC90 loses two-tone body, adds more options for 2013
Fri, 06 Jan 2012Volvo refreshed its XC90 SUV for the 2013 model year. The Swedish automaker says it's the most significant update since the vehicle's debut a decade ago. At the top of the list--for us anyway--is the deletion of the lower body cladding.
Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Meets The Real Thing
Thu, 21 Aug 2014WHILE Infiniti has yet to make a decision on whether to put its high performance Q50 Eau Rouge model into production, bringing it to the circuit with the corner named after it was too good an opportunity to miss. It’s no surprise that Sebastian Vettel, Infiniti’s Director of Performance and four-time Formula One World Drivers’ Champion, put the car through its paces as part of a social media promotional activity. Vettel has been involved in the ongoing development of the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, which was first revealed as a design concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January this year.
