Porsche 911 GT3 RSR (2008): first official pictures

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 13 February 2008 11:42 Porsche today unveils a new, more powerful version of its 911 racer. The GT3 RSR competes in GT2 long-distance races, including Le Mans, Spa and the 24-hour Nurburgring event and will benefit from new aero aids and engineering tweaks. Additional front ‘flicks’ spoilers are added to the front apron and extra air ducts pepper the steel bodywork, while the huge rear wing is carried over from last year’s racer.

Volkswagen and BYD get cosy

VW and BYD have signed an agreement to work together on developing battery technology (BYD F3DM plug-in Hybrid pictured). Volkswagen has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese car maker and EV specialist BYD to work together “in the area of electric mobility”. Seems sensible.

Mitsubishi MiEV – Plod-Mobile

The blues and twos on a Mitsubishi MiEV It appears that since Mitsubishi took the MiEV to the National Police Show last month they’ve been inundated with requests from Police Forces around the UK to test the car. With it’s top speed of 81 mph and range of 100 miles we can’t quite see the MiEV being used as a pursuit car. In fact the only place it would be of any use is in town, but for what it’s worth we’d much rather see plod pounding the beat than floating around in a Noddy-Mobile.
