Up for auction are the parts I have been assembling to do a 5 lug swap and rear disc upgrade for my 87 mustang.  I am selling these because I don’t have the time to work on my project car.

I purchased all these through ebay and what you see here is what I have weeded out from what I have received.  I received 4 rotors that were guaranteed to have “one more turn on them”,but the machine shop I took them to said they were too thin to turn. I’m not going to give you something you can’t use, or have you pay to ship dead weight.  So, here’s what you’re getting:

5 Lug Axles:  These 28 spline axles are in good shape.  They are from a ‘94-’98 GT and are 29 31/32 long.  The splines are in good shape, not twisted, and show normal wear.

Rear Disc Calipers:  I would say one is usable as is.  The other one has a worn piston and is not usable.  I thought the best thing was to get a rebuilt set from a parts store so I took these to Napa and they said as long as casting is okay, it can be used to get the core deposit back.  Rebuilt calipers are $140 for the pair so these will save you the core of $82.50.  These come with the nice thick mounting brackets.  The dust shields that came with them were bent beyond repair so I tossed them.

SN95 Spindles:  These are the correct spindles to use and give you the advantages of sealed bearings, and better steering geometry, creating more ackerman steering.  They are the basis for brake upgrades and keep the same track width.  They have the usual grease/dirt built-up, but are in nice shape.  One of the lugs was cut off.  A machine shop can press one in for you for $12.  The dust shields are in decent shape with a couple of bent areas and I though they were worth saving.

Brake Booster and Master Cylinder:  This is the correct booster and MS from a ‘94.  It gives you the added pressure needed to run the rear brakes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.  To save shipping costs, these will likely be shipped in at least two boxes.

First Sight: Holden VE Commodore and Statesman

Fri, 28 Jul 2006

GM Holden last week launched its biggest program ever, the $1 billion all-new Holden VE Commodore range. Designed at Holden's Port Melbourne design center, the 4th generation Commodore is the first all-new model of the series to be fully designed and engineered in Australia. Previous generations of Commodore since 1978 have always been based on lengthened and widened Opel large car platforms of the day but since the demise of the European Omega in 2003, GM lacked a suitable rear-wheel-drive donor platform for a new Commodore, hence the clean sheet approach for the latest VE model.

CAR interviews Chris Bangle: what he did next (2009)

Tue, 22 Dec 2009

By Nargess Shahmanesh Banks Motor Industry 22 December 2009 12:30 Chris Bangle is a hard act to follow, even for Chris Bangle. Like him or loath him, the former BMW design director is one of the most famous car designers of our times, recognised for shaking the established status quo with his ‘flame surfacing’ and his radical take on car design.  Then in March 2009, after 16 solid years, Bangle announced his retirement from the Bavarian brand and – seemingly – car design.
