Shrink stretched or damaged metal panels by appling concentrated heating through surface contact friction generated between the disc and a clean body panel.
The panel area worked with the disc and rapidly cooled with water or commpresed air will shrink down the high points.
These shrinking discs work on steel or aluminum but we do not suggest swithcing from steel to aluminum without dressing the disc with 150 grit sand paper on a block so as not to imbed steel into an aluminum panel and causing corrosion issues down the road.
overworked and stretched the metal too much!
make you feel more confident in your metalworking skills when you can finish a panel with no
body filler at all.
Repeat the process as needed to work the panel flat and level.
The shrinking disc will smooth out damaged surfaces, and try it on dressed out, butt welded seams. Learn to use virtually no fillers, the thinner the filler the longer the repair will last, panels can be worked so smooth the a high build filler primer is all that is needed to be ready for paint. The surface to be repaired must be dollied up level or slightly higher for this form of shrinking to work properly. Lamborghini Aventador J at 2012 Geneva motor show
Mon, 05 Mar 2012There maybe other Italian sports car manufacturers looking to hog the limelight at the 2012 Geneva motor show (and Ferrari and its 730bhp F12 is one of them) but Lamborghini will vie for attention with the Aventador J. A two-seat, open top speedster based on the Aventador LP700-4, it has some intriguing bits of carbonfibre tech and highly individual design. Named 'J' after the FIA’s Appendix J that governs the tech spec of race cars in certain classes, it’s proper bedroom wall material – but little boys and girls are unlikely to ever see it on the road as it’s a one-off and will go to a lucky owner after its appearance at Geneva.
