Car Design News Awards: Nissan IDx and BMW i3 named best Concept and Production cars
Wed, 05 Mar 2014The Nissan IDx and BMW i3 were the recipients of Car Design News' Car Designs of the Year Awards in Geneva last night. This year, for the first time, our Car Design of the Year Awards were voted for by a jury of 12 professional car designers, adding an extra layer of gravitas. Nissan's VP and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura was at the Car Design Night event at Bypass in Geneva to accept the award.

As scooped by CAR Online, the Mini E is a pure electric car and just 500 will be built for corporate and private customers in the US, although a handful could make it to London where there is also a limited recharging infrastructure. The Mini E will only be available for one year as part of a trial and at the end all will be returned to BMW.

But now, just a year later, the Geely Emgrand EC7 and the MG6 – both made in China – have scored four starts in the last set of Euro NCAP tests for 2011. Apart from being a great result for China, it’s proof – if proof were ever needed – that the Chinese car industry is certainly a force to be reckoned with.
