Jeep Grand Cherokee to spawn Maserati SUV – confirmed
Mon, 22 Nov 2010The 2003 Maserati Kubang SUV Concept The idea of an SUV from every luxury maker seemed a dead cert a few years ago. And then the world went in to financial meltdown and the eco-mentalists convinced a chunk of the car buying public that SUVs were the spawn of the devil, which put the kybosh on the nascent plans of many a car maker. Fisker Automotive begins hiring blitz
Wed, 22 Jun 2011Fisker Automotive will hire 120 workers in the coming months to staff the former General Motors factory in Wilmington, Del., that will build Fisker's next plug-in hybrid sedan, due in 2013. Code-named Project Nina, the future car will join the plug-in Karma sedan in Fisker's lineup as the company expands its portfolio of premium hybrid cars. The Karma is launching this year, and production of the future sedan--expected to be priced at about $39,000 after government incentives--would begin late next year.
Henrik Fisker leaves his eponymous company
Thu, 14 Mar 2013Henrik Fisker, co-founder of Fisker Automotive, has resigned from the company as Fisker seeks funding to move forward. But Henrik Fisker managed to convince the car world his Fisker Karma was credible, even if its gestation has been plagued by problems, the latest of which has been the demise of its battery supplier – A123 Systems – and the wrecking of a dock full of seemingly uninsured Karmas by Hurricane Sandy. The current problems at Fisker has seen them seeking a new investor, with two Chinese companies – Geely and Dohnfeng – vying to take a majority stake in Fisker Automotive and help Fisker recover sales of the Karma and move on with Project Nina, the smaller Fisker Atlantic.
