Motorists to set own speed limits in Australia?

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

You can always rely on the subject of speed limits to result in a heated debate. We only need highlight the recent furore over the government’s plans to introduce a 60mph limit on a 32-mile section of the M1 to make our point. But how about a scenario where you, the motorist, select the appropriate speed limit?

VW Design Vision GTI gets 500bhp: Worthersee

Wed, 08 May 2013

The Design Vision GTI is built to show what a Golf built for racing would look like – and perhaps point to future evolutions of VW’s most successful car – and is built on the same MQB platform as the regular GTI. It’s a bit shorter (15mm) than a regular Golf, a chunk wider (71mm) and a lot lower (57mm) which conspires to make the Design Vision GTI much more aggressive looking than its mainstream sibling. Power comes from a 3.0 litre V6 with two turbos – good for 500bhp and 413lb/ft of torque – which is driven to all four wheels through a DSG ‘box and can scoot to 62mph in a supercar-like 3.9 seconds on its way to 186mph.

AW survey: Honda Element won't be missed

Wed, 15 Dec 2010

Is Honda making a mistake by killing the Element SUV after the 2011 model year? AutoWeek readers think not. Our poll shows that 56 percent of voters indicated a readiness to wave good-bye to the “toaster on wheels.” On the other hand, 32 percent found the Element was supremely useful and cool, and 12 percent signaled they didn't know how to transport their dogs anymore in its absence (remember the “dog-friendly” Element?).
