Up for sale is a used Engine Control Computer Module (ECU, PCM, PCU, Brain Box) from a running 1994 Lexus LS400.

This unit was removed from a running vehicle which was recently involved in a collision, and subsequently totaled. The vehicle was still running great, but the body damage was considered too expensive to repair.

 The Denso/Lexus/Toyota part number of the computer is 89661-50142, also identified by the code 1UZFE. This may replace other numbers as well. Please do your own research to determine the replacement of part numbers other than 89661-50142.

This unit shows no signs of ever being wet, and was removed from a running vehicle which was salvaged only due to an accident. The pictures are of the actual item listed for sale. The covers were removed only to show the pristine condition of the circuit boards and components.

These units are somewhat notorious for developing leakage from the capacitors onto the circuit board, which can cause many driveability problems. This unit exhibits no signs of capacitor leakage, as verified by the close-up pictures.

NY Times reporter says he followed Tesla's advice

A New York Times reporter says he was following the advice of Tesla employees when he drove an electric Model S sedan beyond its indicated range in an effort to reach a recharging station. Responding to a blog post by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk highly critical of his original article, Times reporter John Broder on Thursday said he did not set out to sabotage the test drive -- refuting one of Musk's most-damning points. Broder also refutes Musk's claim that he drove the car around a parking lot in a deliberate attempt to fully discharge the battery -- Broder says he was looking for the recharge station in a poorly lighted rest stop at night.
