SsangYong Korando 4×4 gets cheaper with arrival of the Korando SX
Mon, 18 Jun 2012SssangYong has dropped the entry price for its 4WD C-Segment SUV Korando with the launch of the Korando SX. SsangYong is the Korean car maker that hasn’t yet quite managed to drag itself out of the bin marked ‘Oh, dear’, but the takeover of SsangYong by the deep-pocketed Mahindra and the launch of the seemingly convincing SsangYong Korando Crossover/SUV last year auger well. The Korando is aimed at cars like the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage, and it seems a decent enough offering in a slightly generic way (even if it is penned by Giugiaro), with a 2.0 litre turbo diesel with a decent enough 173bhp and with a choice of auto or manual, FWD or 4WD.
Pagani Huayra: Geneva 2012
Thu, 08 Mar 2012Pagani Huayra Geneva 2012 Horacio Pagani brought along a white Huayra and an all carbon special edition Pagani Huayra to Geneva. We’ve moaned that Pagani isn’t being completely straight with the progress of the Huayra to market and, it seems, less than willing to address many of the concerns – even from those who’ve ordered the Huayra. Still, Geneva is a motor show and supercars are the stars of motor shows, none more so than the Pagani Huayra.
Fuel Injection Pioneer Stuart Hilborn 1917-2013
Mon, 16 Dec 2013Stuart Hilborn, the dry lakes hot rodder whose racing fuel injection systems powered almost the entire field at Indianapolis some years, died Monday at the age of 96. Hilborn first went to the dry lakes in 1938 and was amazed to see engine builders and racers who hadn't gone to college producing twice the horsepower of a stock setup. “I was very impressed that they had doubled the horsepower of the cars as they came out of Detroit with virtually no money at all, just work,” Hilborn told the American Hot Rod Foundation.
