GTPerformance

This tinted/smoked Wind Deflector fits 1994-2004 Mustang convertibles that have a (CDC, Saleen, or Roush) light bar that is already installed on your vehicle. GTPerformance makes the installation of this Wind Deflector easy so you can enjoy it within minutes, by using common tools and following the (included) step by step instructions.

Designed for the owner in mind that wants a functional as well as a good looking wind blocking device for their convertible. This Wind Deflector looks and functions just as great! Made from a crystal clear UV protected scratch resistant acrylic. Just as durable as Lexan but if it does get a scratch in it you can buff it out. Lexan, once it is scratched it is scratched forever.

If you take care of your Wind Deflector there is no need for it to be bullet proof. I have had mine on my car for over 8yrs now and never had a problem with it.

Strength and Durability (Acrylic Vs. Polycarbonate):

Acrylic is more likely to chip than polycarbonate because it is less impact-resistant. It does not scratch easily, however, and will not yellow over time. Acrylic can be polished to restore its clarity, while polycarbonate cannot. Polycarbonate is more flexible than acrylic and it has high impact-resistance, making it stronger. Acrylic cracks more easily than polycarbonate under stress, but polycarbonate has low flammability, while acrylic will burn slowly and is not recommended in areas where flames may be present. Acrylic is very rigid. Unlike polycarbonate, it cannot be purchased in more flexible grades.

Q: Should I keep acrylic out of the sun?
A: No, sunlight will not affect your acrylic items. All plastics come from petroleum and natural gas. Sunlight, especially ultraviolet radiation, has a disastrous effect on most plastics. This is why many children's toys become brittle and crack when left outside. Acrylic is derived from natural gas and is completely inert in its solid form and will NOT yellow in the sunlight.

Q: Is acrylic the same as “bullet-proof” glass?
A: No, bullet-resistant glass is made from polycarbonate. Trade names for the base material include Armormax, Makroclear, Cyrolon, Lexan and Tuffak. Although it is more shatter-resistant, polycarbonate is more expensive than acrylic, yellows with prolonged exposure to sunlight, and is much more easily scratched. Therefore acrylic is more ideal for most interior and exterior design purposes

With the above paragraphs, GTPerformace take pride in making the Wind Deflectors to prevent the above from happening. The edges are protected with a all around edge guard and has rubber inserts on the mounting points to allow for flexing and stress.  So you may think Lexan is better but for this application Acrylic is a better choice (unless you are getting shot at). If properly installed and taken care of you will have many years of enjoyment looking out a clear and non-yellowed Wind Deflector.

I stand behind my product and will warranty it for 90 days against manufacture defects if properly installed. I will not honor it if it is misused or abused. Just send me a email along with what happened to it. Buyer pays shipping cost to replace it.

One in five suffers 'car envy'

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

DRIVERS in the UK are more likely to give way to classic or unusual cars such as a Citroen 2CV or Volkswagen Beetle, but one in five also admits they are less likely to be courteous to large 4x4s due to car envy, according to a survey. Nearly a half (47%) of UK motorists say they leave more space between their car and the one in front if the car ahead is driven by an elderly driver. Others (5%) admit to trying to slow down boy racers if they see the driver is wearing a baseball cap and is a young male.

New De Tomaso Pantera, perhaps? +video

Thu, 05 May 2011

Is this the new De Tomaso Pantera? Former Fiat man Gian Mario Rossignolo rescued the De Tomaso brand from the ignominy of bankruptcy in 2009, with plans to bring the world a range of 21st century De Tomasos. An idea, we have to confess, for which we had a big soft spot.
