Bentley gets efficient: 2014 Hybrid Concept to cut CO2 emissions by 70%

It seems even the manufacturers of super luxury cars are now cottoning on to the fact that big multi-cylinder, gas-guzzling engines are set to be a thing of the past. Bentley, no less, has announced that it will be going hybrid in the future, marking the occasion with the reveal of its Hybrid Concept at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show 2014. Lamborghini Gallardo replacement named Huracan

A Lamborghini source has apparently revealed that the Italian supercar firm’s replacement for the Gallardo – due next in 2014 – will be called the Huracan. The insider let slip to Auto Express that the new V10-powered supercar will be called Huracan, which is Spanish for hurricane. This is in contrast to earlier reports that suggested the Gallardo replacement would be called the Cabrera.

Vintage cars cross the auction block at Meadow Brook

An impressive array of gleaming classics crossed the block on Saturday at RM Auctions' Vintage Cars of Meadow Brook sale in a white linen event that showcased the grandeur and glamor of automaking in the Motor City in the early part of the Twentieth Century. The 16 annual auction, held on the eve of the Concours of America at Meadow Brook, is located about a half an hour north of Detroit on the grounds of a mansion where the widow of auto pioneer John Dodge one lived. Unlike the other RM auction, held in an convention hall on the other side of town in the spring, the Meadow Brook event carries an austere demeanor, and the automobiles roll with a similar vibe.
