Volkswagen Golf GTD Mk 7 revealed

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

The 2013 VW Golf GTD has beenĀ revealedĀ ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut with 181bhp, 67.3mpg and 109g/km emissions. The new VW Golf GTD get VW’s new 2.0 litre 4-cylinder diesel which offers an impressive 181bhp and a very decent 280lb/ft of torque, enough to get to 62mph in 7.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 143mph. The extra power (up 13bhp and 22lb/ft of torque) may mean better performance than the Mk 6 GTD, but it’s not at the price of poorer economy.

But the best laid plans of MINI have garnered a bit of a wrinkle with the first official photos (above) of the new MINI leaking out online ahead of the official reveal. They don’t really tell us much we don’t already know – especially with the MINI Vision Concept previewing the new MINI – but do confirm the new MINI still looks as we would expect, just bigger and better equipped and based on a new BMW platform.

It's tough to imagine the British car scene in North America without the MGB, which remains a popular starter classic and is available in every price range imaginable--and some price ranges that aren't. The iconic MGB was in production from 1962 until 1980, an entire era that saw relatively few changes introduced to the well-proven design. The marque itself was overseen by three corporate parents during those 18 years on the line: BMC, British Motor Holdings and, finally, British Leyland.
