BMW X1 US launch delayed – because the new X3 is so good
Wed, 04 May 2011BMW X1 - not in the US until late 2012 It would have been inconceivable just a few years ago that there could ever be a market in the US for a car like the BMW X1. But times have changed and even Americans see the benefits of a (much) smaller SUV, so BMW was originally planning on launching the X1 in the US around now. That X1 launch got put back until later in 2011 because the Leipzig plant – which builds the X1 – was running at capacity to meet the demands from Europe.
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8: Australia gets 1,000 but UK gets just 100
Thu, 26 Apr 2012Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 - just 100 coming to the UK The range-topping Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 arrives in the UK in the Autumn, but just 100 cars are allocated to the UK in the first year. We like just about everything that makes up the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. We like its styling – still very US but with a welcome does of European panache; we like its interior – no longer an American plastic feast; we like it’s price – there’s a lot on offer for not silly money.
Aston Martin Lagonda Concept unveiled at Geneva motor show 2009
Wed, 04 Mar 2009By Ben Pulman First Official Pictures 04 March 2009 06:57 Aston Martin shocked the Geneva motor show today when it unveiled the Lagonda Concept, a V12-engined SUV that’s designed to spearhead the expansion of the company into over 100 countries. And it's the first fruits of a new collaboration between Aston and Mercedes-Benz, which will provide the 4x4 hardware and engine tech - from the Merc GL SUV. Yes, or if you believe Aston Martin boss Dr Ulrich Bez, ‘the avantgarde luxury car of the future.’ The Lagonda Concept is based on the four-wheel drive chassis of the Mercedes GL (a fruition of the Aston Martin-Mercedes tie up first revealed by our very own Georg Kacher), so it’s four-wheel drive, but unlike like its donor car, the Lagonda version seats just four and features a V12 engine up front.
