Tue, 24 Mar 2009Phillip A Zak will become the new Chief Designer at Hyundai's North American Design Center in Irvine, California, filling the role previously held by former GM designer Joel Piaskowski who left Hyundai to become Head of Advanced Design at Mercedes-Benz's North American Design Center in January of this year. Zak joins Hyundai from his previous role as head of exterior design at GM Europe - a post he has held since August 2007 - and will work in parallel to European Chief Designer Thomas Buerkle (who worked at BMW before joining the Korean automaker), developing vehicles for the North American market. Mitsubishi plans ‘Colt-successor' for the United States around 2012
Thu, 03 Dec 2009Mitsubishi plans to bring a global small car to the United States sometime around 2012. It would be the successor to the Colt small car currently sold in Europe and Asia. The new car would be all-new, and the name has not been decided yet, a spokesman said, referring to it as the “Colt-successor.” “There's obviously a need for a very small car,” Mitsubishi spokesman Moe Durand said.
