Saturday night's all right at Barrett-Jackson auction
Sat, 21 Jan 2012Auction company Barrett-Jackson has a long-standing tradition of selling cars with no reserve--meaning the car is sold to the highest bidder regardless of price--but a change in that policy saw several million-dollar sales Saturday night at the annual extravaganza in Scottsdale, Ariz. Originally, EU car makers had to meet the new regulations by 2012, but have now won a concession to hit 65% of target by 2012, 75% by 2013, 80% by 2014 and 100% by 2015. This scaling back of the targets was achieved after Germany objected to the original proposals.
Revealed: the greatest cars of all time
Thu, 28 Aug 2014TV’s Wheeler Dealers - the programme that buys cars and fixes them up for a profit - is returning to the Discovery Channel on Monday evening (1 September) with a new series. In it, presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China will restore their 100th car. To promote its return, the programme has asked more than 2,000 people to vote for what they think is the greatest car of all time – as well as the top 10 previously embarrassing cars they’d now like to own.
