Local authorities cashing in with CCTV fines
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Councils are turning to CCTV cameras and spy cars to raise £312m in revenue, that’s according to Traffic Spies, a report published by civil liberties group, Big Brother Watch. Using a series of freedom of information requests, the group has discovered that many councils are continuing to use CCTV to hand out fines, despite the government’s Surveillance Camera Code of Practice, which highlights the need to use CCTV for traffic offences “sparingly”. Fire sale continues: Ford cuts stake in Mazda

Previously the Blue Oval held a third of Mazda’s stock, but it has cut that to just 13%. Ford admitted the sale was purely to boost its balance sheet, as the Big Three continue to struggle with cashflow.
Hyundai Veloster roof recall expands
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Hyundai is recalling more 2012 Veloster hatchbacks with panoramic sunroofs to fix a weakened assembly that may cause the sunroofs to shatter while driving. The recall impacts 6,071 Velosters manufactured from July 4-Oct. 31, 2011.
