Video: Lexus' Calty design team on their LF-LC concept

Lexus has released an official video of its Lexus LF-LC concept, winner of the ‘Best Concept Car' at the 2012 EyesOn Design Awards. The video features comments from the design team at the company's Calty studio in Newport Beach, California, including Project Chief Designer William Chergosky, Senior Creative Designers Edward Lee and Ben Chang, Studio Manager Ian Cartabiano as well as President Kevin Hunter. The LF-LC hybrid sports coupe is the result of a brief to the Calty team to design a future hybrid sports coupe concept.

Volkswagen creates R division for sporty cars

Volkswagen is officially creating a company to develop sporty cars; it will be called Volkswagen R GmbH. This may sound familiar--VW already calls some of its specialty cars Rs--and now it's bundling sales and development all into one unit. VW has the Scirocco R and the Golf R for cars, as well as the dynamic R Line of design trims.

The P1 Supercar Club seems to have fallen by the wayside. [ad#ad-1] In a buoyant economy, with plenty of ‘Readies’ floating around, the Supercar Club Concept (where members pay an annual fee for the use of a fleet of Supercars for a fixed number of days a year) works well. Clubs in the UK have sprung up all over the place, inspired by the success of the P1 Supercar Club, co-founded by Damon Hill in 2000.
